"A penny saved is a penny earned." If that is true, then if you save a penny and then lose it, then what happens? If someone else finds the penny, then isn't it also earned? If they save it, does that mean they earn it again.

One of those sayings my dad has used. "If you snooze you lose." But we all snooze at some point during the day. Some of us more than others. If that is the case, what do we lose during that time. If we don't snooze, then don't we lose sleep. Shouldn't that statement be, "if you snooze, you lose some and you win some."?

"A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." Really? Have you ever tried to hold a bird in the hand? All you get is bird crap in the hand. And how the hell does that equate to two in the bush? Does the bird have a twin in the bush or something?

"A stitch in time saves nine." I call bullshit on this one. It's really stupid. A stitch in time is just another way to say you did it by a specified time. How does that mean you saved nine? Are you suggesting, that they don't have additional stitches to make? Someone was drunk when they came up with this one.

"If at first you don't succeed, try, try again." That's really stupid. If at first you don't succeed and you try again. You still won't succeed. You already tried that. Try something else. That statement should be, "If at first you don't succeed, try a different alternative."

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend." Bullshit. You haven't had the opportunity to even find out if the enemy of your enemy is even interested in you or not. For all you know, that person hates everyone and considers you their enemy as well.

"It's not over until the fat lady sings." Which fat lady? Why does she have to be fat? Why does she have to sing for it to be over? Is it over when she starts to sing, or after the song is done?

"Accidents will happen." No shit Sherlock! We are imperfect beings and we make a lot of mistakes. That goes without saying. So stop saying it.

"The good die young." Some of them do. Some of them die very old. Albert Einstein by all accounts was a good person. He died at 76. That in my opinion is a good person who died old. Bad people die young as well. How many times have we heard of someone who went in and attempted to take lives only to die at the hands of either themselves or someone else who stopped them? How many of those times was the individual young? This is an outdated concept.

"All's well that ends well." That's just not realistic. What if it started with someone dying? Then is all well that ends well? I think those who lost the person who died will be pretty upset over that death. What ends well for you may end terribly for someone else.

"Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he will eat forever." What if the fish are minnows? What happens when the pond runs dry? What if the man is stupid? Maybe he can't be taught to fish. What if he has a really big appetite? What if he is allergic to fish?

"Revenge is a dish best served cold." I don't know. If you set someones house on fire in revenge for them running you over, that seems to be as effective a dish of revenge as anything. Why does revenge have to be served on a dish? Revenge is not something you cook up. It's a concept only and doesn't belong on a dish. Leave the dish in the cupboard.

"He who fights and runs away, lives to fight another day." What if he runs into a bus, or the more correct term the bus runs over him? Then he can't live to fight another day. What if the persons arms are cut off during the fight? That would make it hard to fight another day, wouldn't it. What if he runs away, but is mortally wounded and can't find help in time?

Okay, I have ranted enough.

I've heard this one.
"There's always another mountain to climb."

What if you've climbed all the mountains on earth? Do you have to become an interstellar astronaut just to climb another? Eventually, there will be no more mountains. 😉

Create another mountain? Maybe start over.

ROFPML, best rant I have heard all week, let me know when you are in my area and I will buy you an ice cream!

Thanks! Glad you got a laugh out of it.

@ChrisJones Love the minnows, mine is "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach him to fish and he will destroy an eco-system"

I like that one. It makes a lot of sense. Thanks for posting that. @Rugglesby
