So. If someone decides that they are against the 'Gay' Liberation movement why are they not allowed to voice their opinion without being bashed for it.

On what planet do you enjoy the right to express your opinion without being criticized? On Earth if you exercise your freedom of speech by espousing hate, you will be criticized. Grow up and deal with it.

1

Saying "I do not believe in gay liberation" is akin to saying "I do not believe in the emancipation of slaves" or "I do not believe women should have the same rights as men."
It is a bigoted statement, condoning and advocating for the oppression of a section of humanity.
THAT is why are they not allowed to voice their opinion without being bashed for it.
It is NOT free speech, it is abuse!

You think it's ok to bash Gays or Beat Down lebians? How about murdering Transpeople, is that ok?...You don't like LGBTQ people?.. Fine, just keep your bigotry to your self. But never think for a moment that because you're a White Male that You have the right to Deny Me those same Rights.
Then there's No problem, right?

Anyone can have an opinion. And they have to be prepared to take backlash for it. Especially if they are espousing one that is negative towards a group that has historically been persecuted.

You gotta go with the progressive flow.

Or be very cautious in your speech.

There's a new breed of zealot out there.

I love your ‘new breed of zealot’ phrase. Finger on the button there👍

Because, and I'll type this real slow, its because if your against something you're already bashing that something.

@DonaldHRoberts scintillating response.

Is so.

Bigotry should never be tolerated. LGBTQ people aren't asking for special privileges; they want the same basic human rights that you have. If you think people should be treated as less than human because of something as trivial as their sexual orientation, your ignorance renders your opinion worthless.

I grant you you have the right to voice your opinion, but everybody else has the right to treat that opinion as they see fit.

@DonaldHRoberts I disagree on opinions, an opinion is no different than a belief. Many people have them and never examine them. While for the most part, I believe people should be respected, at least until they prove otherwise, but beliefs and opinions aren't people, and they shouldn't be confused.

When people opposed the Civil Rights Movement, they put themselves in the same situation. They held on to their beliefs regardless of the fact that their beliefs had no merit. Being respectful of those beliefs and treating them as if they had any merit would have been a grave disservice to those they sought to oppress.

The same is true now with LGBTQ rights. The rights of actual human beings must always take precedent over antiquated and ignorant opinions.

@DonaldHRoberts Opinion is nothing more than an unsubstantiated idea; zome are better than others, but they aren't sacred. Anything opined can be challenged and criticism is not oppression.

@DonaldHRoberts That's bullshit. You sound like a conspiracy theorist with that nonsense. What makes you think that you're the only person entitled to an opinion.

If you wish to voice your opinion be mature enough to not get your feelings hurt when someone disagrees.

One can voice their opinion all they like. But one should also be prepared to be made to look the fool they are if the opinion they happen to be expressing proves them to be a pathetic, repulsive dip shit.

Everyone can voice their opinion.... Verbally bashing someone is also a protected right...

For all you folks bashing Donald, remember, Barack Obama ran on a platform that was in opposition to gay marriage the first time. He changed with the political tide.

Yeah, but he also didn't have a VP who wanted to eradicate gay people...

So?

@Remi I was talking about DonaldHRoberts but DT works also. You say Pence wants to eradicate people? I missed that.

Perhaps a reflective backlash from the gay community and their supporters for having suffered eons of horiffic dicrimination.. I know I’m very sensitive with regard to ‘Atheist bashing’ for the same reason.

I’m curious what your concerns are? I’ve mine, in that ‘the left’ has become justifiably known for throwing a disproportionate level of concern at the most obscure of minorities … while apparently inept at taking on the major threats to everyone’s freedom and well being.

Instead of organizing against the threats to all, they’ve a ‘purity test’ among themselves with regard to who's willing to expend the most effort and resources on specialized concerns ..that would be included and protected given a moderately progressive government.. Instead of focusing on achieving and maintaining such governance, too many race to the fringes of society looking for an extremist issue to unite their own … as we all suffer from a lack of cohesion and another loss to the religious extremists..

So, again, what’s your concern?

@DonaldHRoberts there is a difference between being chastized for not agreeing with the current status quo on any subject and being chastised for being a bigot.

@DonaldHRoberts Not automatically. But if by the "status quo" you mean something like "genocide is wrong"...do the math man,

Why are you more concerned with the Neanderthals who espouse such backward views rather that those who are still, even in these more enlightened times, being attacked and persecuted for their gender orientation and lack of human rights? I believe what you mean is a metaphorical “bashing “ rather than an actual physical attack, which unfortunately is only too commonly perpetrated on gay and trans people. Such as that in London on Friday to be more specific, when two young lesbians were physically attacked on a London bus and left bleeding by five or six young men.

If someone decides they don't like black people why are they not allowed to voice their opinion without being bashed for it?
See the problem here? Same thing. Gay people can't change who they are any more than a black person can change the color of their skin. It's not some cute "liberation," it's about equal rights. You know, liberty and justice for ALL?

Remi Level 7 June 9, 2019

@DonaldHRoberts are you insinuating that gay people having right somehow encroaches on your rights?

@DonaldHRoberts I mean... People are entitled to their opinions, but they aren't free from consequences. We should be calling out bigots. They've been hiding and meddling behind the scenes for too long. Expose them! Are you going to stand by and let someone talk about how great Nazis are because they have the right to an opinion?
