There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge. The problem is that people are more interested in arguing that they are right instead of listening and testing to see if they could be wrong. I had heart surgery almost 3 years ago. After that, Something happened with my ex wife to let me know I was completely wrong about her being love of my life. I said if I’m so wrong about that what else am I wrong about. Did an inventory or all my beliefs and realizes most of them were complete bullshit and based on another mans opinion that was disguised as being from god. Yes I had to go to my own ignorance anonymous and admit I had been an idiot but since then I realize I don’t know anything and try to keep an open mind to learn

I prefer Daniel Boorstin's perspective, “The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, but the illusion of knowledge”.

It is wrong to use excessive words such as "always" and "infinite". These should have only a metaphorical meaning. Durations are long, but finite in a finite Uni-Multi-Verse. Even Science accumulates and evolves finitely. So, we have to avoid also the scientific/intellectual excess, supremacism and fanaticism. #sciartsforterralife #limitedtimeprecioustime #pandetoxification

"Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."

One of the many quotes from the bible promoting ignorance.
All through history church leaders have tried to keep the masses ignorant and uneducated and in the more religious states educational standards tend to be lower.

That's so true ! I was raised in the Jehovah's Witnesses, and we had to stop school after high school. No college, no university. I heard that in the recent years they allowed studies only if it was in a field that would help the organization. For exemple, they refuse to consult a psychologist if it's not a member.

@Nathalie_Quebec Well done for escaping from that. Sounds like a definite cult to me.

Yes, and a part of is those who don't care about the depletion of resources, filling the oceans with plastic and more because "Jesus" is coming for them and nonbelievers are actually going to experience while "Jesus" on Earth and what he is doing to it while they are in heaven. 😟

Yup.. Sickens me to this day. It doesn't matter how much effort you’ve put into understanding or figuring out anything when ignorance has an equal vote.
