Love the last photo! Butterflies flutter away when I approach.
Over 44 years of hiking, these are the only butterflies that held still for a photo.
Must have been stoned on nectar.
In the 2nd photo, the Taylor Checkerspot butterfly is endangered in WA State.
Beautiful, too.
Penn Jillette was just talking about his friendship with Marie Osmond on his podcast and how gracious she is when he says things like this... She was talking about how butterflies were a spiritual signal for her and how while she was walking with a friend who had been to the other side of death and returned, swarms of butterflies would follow them around and Penn made a very simple statement of fact that ended the conversation: “You know, butterflies are attracted to the smell of urine.” I suppose you should take it as a compliment if they aren’t that into you.
@1EarthLovingGal lol if it’s any comfort I think your animal is more similar to a moth than butterfly, and I’m pretty sure if anything it’s probably the smell (or even just sight) of the costume jewelry attracting it. Haha lets go with that
Beautiful!
Too sad it is so ephemeral...like everything else in life.
“But what does that mean– ‘ephemeral’?” repeated the little prince, who never in his life had let go of a question, once he had asked it.
“It means, ‘which is in danger of speedy disappearance.'”
“Is my flower in danger of speedy disappearance?”
“Certainly it is.”
“My flower is ephemeral,” the little prince said to himself, “and she has only four thorns to defend herself against the world. And I have left her on my planet, all alone!”...
