I’m really anxious about what is going on in the United States today. I am afraid I’m seeing the end of democracy. Anyone else, beside me, feel like running away far from here?

you can't be seeing the end of democracy b/c there never was a democracy.

I am as well. I still debate about how much time the American empire has left and view it as an oligarchical fascist police state. I have also read Chris Hedges' book: America: The Farewell Tour.

I have felt that way since DUCK&COVER nuke war preparedness drills in school.....the only way democracy can survive is to vote for honest peace waging candidates....liars for polluter oil war crime profiteering bankster zionists run both parties as a single duopoly fascist machine.... vote @HowieHawkins20 all the rest are evil or have no plan to fix it all

I don’t think there is anywhere to run. Possibly best solution for your personal wellbeing is to stop and try to appreciate what you have or can aspire to have.

Focussing on what you don’t and can’t have is no solution to any situation.

We are only discovering what has been going on almost from the beginning of the nation. Under capitalism, it is not your vote that counts, it is who they pick and chose, the vote is only there to give the illusion of choice, and it has been that way . . . . the internet has is only making it more apparent.

I think its deteriorated too much to recuperate, and a revolution has already begun. Unfortunately, I also think that things will get worse .

while the change in the house was positive I tend to agree with youl Unless we can take the senate and get rid of tRump it looks too much like the changes seen in the 30's in Europe and east

In the 2018 midterm elections, the Democrats, led by Nancy Pelosi, won control of the House and gained 41 seats from their total after the 2016 elections (including one seat gained previously with Conor Lamb's March 2018 special election victory). The 41-seat gain was the Democrats' largest gain of House seats since the post-Watergate 1974 elections, when they picked up 49 seats.

The Democrats also won the popular vote by a margin of 8.6%, the largest margin on record for a party that previously held a minority in the House.

Democrats also won control of 6 more states.

Turnout was the highest for a midterm election in more than a century, with over half the electorate casting ballots.

Thanks for the optimistic view. I too hope that the excesses of the fascists will encourage decent people to turn out & vote. If we succeed in marginalizing the bigots and fascists back to where they were before 2016 by re-taking control of the government, I hope that the loss of the public stage to spew their hate will result in their slow but steady decline back to the fringes of civilization. Or we could all be fucked.
