My understanding is that there were also health code violations involved... e.g. touching of genitals and then making drinks for another customer, no hand washing in between.

But of course, the news is about nipples

"Quick masturbation show then I'll make your coffee, John."

Unsanitary by design.

Good point hand washing reduces germ transmission

I'm glad - I drive by those places every day. It's not the nudity that bothers me (there was a time you could see right into the windows just driving by) as much as the brothels that were being run out of them, although the nudity is a form of exploitation (which is the basis of capitalism, we all draw our lines differently). That my little hometown has coffee stands that have to put up signs that say "family friendly" is a touch emberrasing, as is pointing out to out of towner's which stands to avoid if they don't want a show.

Everyone I know calls them drive through strip clubs as the article correctly labels them, except for one idiot friend who thought the barista had a crush on him because she'd show him her nipples - he would tip 5 bucks per stop and even brought flowers. He was pretty emberrased when I told him what was happening. It was awesome. 🙂

We have way to many coffee stands around here. The attached map just shows north Everett and I thought of 3 places that didn't show up without trying. That plus every place that normally sells coffee still does, so I can see why they feel the need to do something different to attract customers, just be rather nice if it wasn't so exploitative.

@Donotbelieve it was a wonderful teaching moment. He's the kind of guy that thinks if a woman is nice to him she obviously wants to sleep with him. Ex jock and all that.

It was hilarious.

@Donotbelieve or who think a simple flirt means "let's go get it on NOW!"

People are weird, and strange, and so easy to misread at times.

@Donotbelieve can communication ever be precise enough to alleviate misunderstandings? Everyone processes information differently, and what's clear to many is rarely clear to all.

@Donotbelieve acceptance usually has an inherently missunderstoodness about it.

There is no fault in trying, its something everyone should be doing more of IMO. I'm dyslexic and sometimes no matter how hard I try being understood just doesn't happen - no fault on either end, but I need to drop more convos where that's happening. Very frustrating.

It is awesome - my partner and I can say paragraphs to each other with a glance.

Making female baristas wear bikinis is sexist. It perpetuates rape culture.

Do men have to wear a bikini or chador? Case closed.

Furthermore, the Puget Sound area (including Everett) is COLD with constant drizzle and clouds. Seattle's incontinence.

Bikini-clad baristas will freeze, especially in winter. This reminds me:

"When you're a-leaning over the table, you're a-selling a-that, too," restaurant manager Jose said to motivate us waitresses. I was appalled.

How badly do I need this job?" I thought, fighting the urge to quit.

I'm sorry but it isn't "COLD with constant drizzle and clouds." here all the time. It gets downright wonderful here in the late spring/summer/into late fall.

@1of5

When I lived in Seattle, my new friends said I was happiest wearing a down jacket, even in the summer.

As a slender woman, I have the insulation of a grasshopper.

@LiterateHiker I've had people from east of the mountains visit and complaine about how hot it was compared to thier home. We do have the occasional cool summer, but the constant oppressive gray drizzle is limited to the winter. We just used to tell people it was year round so they wouldnt move here. 😉

I read the article twice, don't you folks have anything productive to do? This is from someone who buys coffee at a Sunoco gas station only when I'm to lazy to make my own. It does appear that other things may be offered for sale at these locations also.

I'm good with both...

If women are paid living wages and are not sexually harassed selling coffee via strip tease then courts are harming not protecting women

You think they aren't sexually harassed???????

@Burner I raised that question and I am not there to confront the sexist pigs selling or buying coffee...I only drink tea....my thought remains full GREEN employment living wages for all ending exploitation of workers of ANY kind

Good luck

Im guessing they can make the tank tops just as revealing as a bikini top if they put their minds to it.
My question is, do they have a good French roast?
