Thank you. We can only hope the children at the celebration in WA DC today don't start a food fight. ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ
Boris as PM - OMG!! But if it's going to help the Scots become independent it could be worth it.๐Ÿ™‚

Bring it on then!

My associate of many years was a British ex-pat. Every 4th of July he would come into the office wearing a black armband. One year he came in with a sign that read:

COLONISTS, REPENT

THE QUEEN WILL FORGIVE YOU

I like his sense of humour!

If Scotland becomes independant please can I emmigrate? I have land already there.

If you can make a reasonable case...Iโ€™m sure youโ€™ll be welcome.

@Marionville I'm ginger??

@Amisja You already have a HEAD start then! ๐Ÿ˜‚

@Marionville Well done ๐Ÿ˜‰

@Amisja you may even find that you’re related to Charlie & Craig of the Proclaimers!

@Marionville Apparently I am 100% Anglo Saxon English. Of course I'm northern so who knows? My Grandma was from Durham, rest of em were all from Lancashire right back to 1602.

@Amisja youโ€™re not improving your chances by admitting that! By gum lass....your positively sabotaging your chances!!

@Marionville Hence the need to flit rather than claim citizenship! I just know I belong in Scotland. It just feels right for me.

@Amisja Iโ€™ll make you an honorary Scot then.

@Marionville Can the whole North of England just secede and join Scotland? Let's face it, we owe London nowt.

@MrBeelzeebubbles Sounds like a plan!

@MrBeelzeebubbles, @Marionville YAY! I am so honoured ๐Ÿ˜‰

@MrBeelzeebubbles Iโ€™m all for that idea....the north has more in common with the Scots than it does with anyone south of The Wash!

You would think Boris the Buffoon could afford a hair cut. I too am awaiting independence from the mother country. The republican movement here has waned a bit since all those young royals became soapie stars. People love them. Sheesh. I always thought we were just waiting for the queen to die (doesn't appear in any hurry), but now I'm not so sure people want to leave the commonwealth. Happy birthday America

The haircut is deliberate.

Will be happy to see more nails in the coffin of the selfish stupid royal empire

The Queen will still be Queen of Scotland after Independence...that is a misconception about how the United Kingdom is formed. We had two acts of Union...itโ€™s only the second one, the Union of the Parliaments (1707) we wish to sever. The Union of the Crowns (1603) was when the English took our King James VI of Scotland as their king too, he then became James I of the United Kingdom.

@Marionville oh so you still want to be in the commonwealth. I thought you wanted to be like Northern Ireland

@MsDemeanour Northern Ireland doesnโ€™t want independence...the majority here want to remain British, so until a majority want to join Ireland it wonโ€™t happen. Itโ€™s quite a different situation in Scotland which was always a sovereign nation in its own right, never just a region of the UK....the Queen is half Scottish and anyway we donโ€™t want to sever the first act of Union ...the Union of the Crowns (1603) when our King James VI became King of England too, as James I he united the kingdom. What we want is the second one the Union of the Parliaments (1707) to be rescinded, so that we can make our own laws and policies, and raise our own taxes and decide how to spend them.

@Marionville Sorry I didn't mean Northern Ireland. I meant the republic of Ireland. Separate country. AS for Scotland, it sounds reasonable. I doubt there would be a civil war these days lol I think it makes senses to remain part of the kingdom as you're so close. But here in Australia....we are in Sth East Asia

@MsDemeanour Yes,...I can see the logic...but sheโ€™s really only a titular head in Australia. She cannot actually pass any laws, your parliament does that. My position on the monarchy is that I think a president could be worse, cost as much but without the benefit of being a money earner...the Monarchy brings lots of money into the British coffers In tourism.

Thanks and I hope your wish come true. But at this moment America the beautiful is sick and still looking for a secular government.

I wish you luck in restoring your countryโ€™s good health.

hard to believe the whole BREXIT debacle hasn't collapsed under its own nonsense yet but adding Boris just might be enough.

We can but live in hope!

1

Thank you, and basically good luck to all rational democracies.

Amen to that!

2

Thank you! As regards Scottish independence, I think I understand the SNP emphasizes membership in the EU, progressive taxation, and denuclearization, among other notable goals for a social democracy. Are there certain goals which you find important in your hope for an independent Scotland?

These amongst other progressive policies. They have a different view on immigration too, realising that Scotland needs immigration to keep the economy working properly.

@Marionville
Now I truly like the viewpoint on immigration. Immigrants have added their know-how to make the US great, and they definitely should be recognized oftener than what happens here.

1

Thank you. Keep hoping. There is power in the will of the people.

I do...and will, always!

Thank you, weโ€™re trying to get used to living under a tyrant and dictator wannabe. So our freedoms and liberties are somewhat tainted or diminished at the moment. Hopefully this coming election in 2020 can rectify our HUGE mistake and we can get back to helping to lead the world and work with the rest of the world instead being a unilateral brat and embarrassment.

Good luck...I hope you get yourselves back on track.

Scotland Free would be a glorious sight.

Absolutely!

I'd love to see Scotland lead the rest of the UK into its rightful place amongst the sensible, grown up, post-colonial social democracies of Northern Europe.

Thatโ€™s my cherished hope!

@Bogz You're aware that Norway isn't even an EU member, right?
Lots of spelling errors? Ignorance of basic facts? Let me guess, brexiteer?

@Bogz I think youโ€™re wrong...but time alone will tell what happens. Those of us who can understand fully the benefits of EU membership, as well as the flaws which we think should be discussed and improved, are dismayed at the thought of leaving the most successful trading block in the world for some fantasy trade deals with the rest of the world. That you have a different viewpoint is fine, but donโ€™t trash the idea that the Scottish people have a different view of the EU and running their own country...itโ€™s their right to do so.

@Bogz My apologies....I misunderstood what you meant,

1

It will indeed be a sad day if Boris gets elected.

@Bogz If Boris is elected, as it looks likely, it will only be by Tories...itโ€™s the Tory leadership election heโ€™s running for. Your remark is therefore pretty senseless.

@Bogz I donโ€™t believe Iโ€™m condescending in pointing something out...but Iโ€™m prepared to admit that I may have been somewhat caustic in my reply. Letโ€™s not give you the wrong impression of the site...it can be lively and your remarks will be challenged, but would only be a talking shop or an echo chamber if we all agreed with each other. That would be as dull as ditchwater!

@Marionville It would be dull, however don't forget that in ditchwater is where the horrible things are living.

@Bogz Brexit has unleashed a quite unpalatable underbelly of racism and nastiness in our country....it must have already been there before but those feelings and views were lying there dormant just waiting for the leave result to give them the kiss of life. The state of uncertainty and flux goes beyond our own shores, and is being manifest all around Europe and the rest of the world....witness the polarisation Trump has brought to the USA.

@Marionville I think it has a lot to do with there being people who "preach" fear of the unknown, or the different. Our politicians are very happy with doing it all over the world. If we start worrying about others that are different to us, we don't pay attention to what they are up to.

All people of this planet should be able to self determine their futures .
The Control Freaks and Power Mongers keep the entire World in turmoil .
Look at our Orange Communist Turd . I think England is in Major Trouble .
Like America, it is a self inflicted wound .
