My big trip to the British Isles is coming up and suddenly there's a huge glitch. I had an AirB&B booked from August 4th through the 8th in Edinburgh for the Fringe. The host cancelled and now there is no place for me to stay. Maybe I will have to forget about going to the festival and go around the British Isles and visit some of you Agnostic.com people.

I hate to waste the tickets and I was looking forward to some good stand-up comedy.
Does anyone have an idea about where I can stay in Edinburgh for four nights. I can afford around $50 a night.

Oh! Cancelled rooms are the worst. My sympathies. Don't cancel the trip though. It's lovely in August even if you sleep outdoors. When on a budget, and if I can't find a hostel or AirB&B like you mentioned, I have had good luck with couchsurfing.com. Might be worth a try?

I have a bed in Liverpool if you find yourself there

I called AirBnB and they helped me find another place. It's twice the price, but will work fine. Thanks to everyone who gave recommendations. Have any of you tried couchsurfing. It's great if you have the patience to send lots of requests. I used to use it quite a bit and met some amazing people.

I bet you can find a bed and breakfast. If you check out Rick Steves books on either England or Scotland I'm sure he lists some for you

I think you need to go onto one of the accommodation websites....Edinburgh Festival Accommodation brought up quite a number of them when I googled it. Unfortunately, I don’t live in Edinburgh, although I’m originally from there, so can’t offer any practical help. There is an Edinburgh Tourist Information Centre at 3 Princes Street, Edinburgh, EH2 2QP....tel 044 0131 473 3868....website www.visitscotland.com/info/... Keep in mind that during the Festival prices are high, because of high demand, but good luck.

Hey not Scotland but would be happy to see you in North West England about 200 miles fron Edinburugh.
