Personally I prefer the Corman/Price version

Thanks for reminding me Len. Vincent Price was superb wasnā€™t he. A staple of my early life from about 10-25. Must relive some of the greats like Withchfinder General and Masque of the Red Death.

@Geoffrey51 Yes I am a big fan, Masque of the red death is a work of art, and Witchfinder General ranks on my all time top ten (director Michael Reeve died far too you.)

The Pit and the Pendulum & The Telltail Heart were my brother's and my favorite stories when our mom was teaching us to read. Those and Yertle the Turtle & the Cat In the Hat. Oh, and a book of Greek myths.

Classic goosebumps, Poe got so many of us into the genre.

You should have a crack at the other Edgar Alan Poe stuff!

Never saw the movie. Read the book though.

I saw it in 1962 when I was in high school. Vincent Price was really scary.

as usual, the original is better. [ibiblio.org]

I'm that not much of a movie person and least of all horror movies. But this one got to me even from TV in the early 70s.

It's been so long I don't remember the Poe story well but I do remember how much the 1961 movie bothered me. Lol. šŸ˜Ž

@RichCC my link is not to a movie but to the poe story.

as it happens, almost a decade before the movie was made, lance henriksen asked me if he could call me and ask me out. i said yes. he never called. i still think he's great, though.

@genessa Oops. I didn't even look. My error. Sorry.
I figured I likely wouldn't enjoy the film anyway (as per my previous comment).

I am definitely more of a reader these days than a movie person (as are you -- from your comment?).
I do have 'Edgar Allan Poe: Complete Tales & Poems' on my Kindle. But I haven't dug into it lately yet. I've let myself be distracted by other authors.
Again, my error. šŸ˜€

@RichCC no problem. i figured you'd mistaken it for a movie link. hey, we all get tired and distracted! i've napped since we last communicated and i probably should still be asleep!
