Summertime at my beach. That's the Long Island Sound. I've only ever lived on the coast, can't imagine being land locked.

Would periodically risk me and my families safety trekking to the Oregon Coast for a day, or weekend. Miss it tremendously.. Now in SW VA, an ocean is over 300 miles away, and nowhere near as ..wild.

Was scouting a motorcycle ride today ..and considering Virginia Beach, would have had to spend the night.. Tempting … though I’d rather travel 3,000 miles the other direction to ‘the beaches I know’ (miss, and love)!

Took a magnificent “land-locked” adventure on that motorbike today, though. Winding through and over the lush worn mountains of the Blue Ridge is nothing to scoff at 🙂

Is that a house on that island?

Lakes @AmiSue - Lakes! And Ponds - and rivers.....

I do love the ocean though.

@AmiSue I grew up on Long Island and the ocean and the smell of the sea cannot be duplicated by a lake. And I live very close to Lake Ontario. The salt water gets in your blood. And Learned how to swim in the ocean and in the surf.

I grew up on Puget sound and even lived on an island for awhile. Just got done spending 7 months in Albuquerque, and it was weird not being around water, or being able to go to the beach. Dunno how landlocked people stay sane...then I look at the landlocked areas and realize they aren't. 😉
