Alan Turing is the new face for the UK £50 note. One of the greatest minds of the 20th century, he is the founding father of computing and artificial intelligence. His work at Bletchley Park to break German codes during WW2, shortened the war and saved many lives. He was a homosexual, at a time when it was illegal.with severe punishments, that eventually led to his death by suicide (or murder if you accept that story)
A fitting tribute to a great man who had a sad end to life.

His best known commemoration is the apple logo .. an apple with a bite taken from it . He died by eating an apple with cyanide injected into it ...the official version is that he injected the apple himself - but it does seem an odd way for an intelligent man to kill himself, so maybe someone did kill him.
Had he been accepted by society, who knows what more he would have achieved
Saw a movie about his life...I wonder how much more he would have achieved had he been able to live his life without the constant fear and condemnation of his homosexuality...
Nice that he will be talked about at least by those who are lucky enough to get one of those notes!
I will save you one
