Boris Johnston is the new Tory Party leader and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He received 92,000 votes compared to 46,000 for Jeremy Hunt...exactly double the amount.

Now we will just have to wait and see what happens next...with some trepidation, I must add!

Hard decisions and hard bargaining ahead - and not at all sure how neat and tidy it will be .... I suspect a lot of political blood will be seeping into the floor, but who will bleed?
The UK would be in a totally different position had Boris (or David davis, or other hard brexit supporter) taken control, instead of 'maybe May' who negotiated like a schoolgirl.

Not so sure about that.

Now you have a trump of your own

With more brains...if he would just stop playing the clown.

The only thing I can say is that at least he is spot on in stating that our guy is an idiot...I think he will deal with him in the best interest of the UK and be able to handle him with less bullshit than many other leaders have. Pitting the two of them against each other, your guy has the smarts and knows his history and science.

I also watched his acceptance speech and found it interesting that he stated that each person wanted what was best for his own life, his own family, and his own country(populist) and yet had the heart and mind to also think of others (progressive)...sounds like he is at least trying to unite your people.

It will be interesting to see if he carries out his stance on a hard brexit and will be able to get it passed in the House of Commons...I am guessing that his hard stance will result in a more moderate approach swiftly...the wait and not knowing is what is harming your economy and decision making by many.

With Denmark and the Netherlands anxious in the decision, it will take care a lot of anxiety if anything is done swiftly. Best of luck to you...I think you have every right to be a bit anxious, but, no way like we are here.

Interesting times ahead that’s for sure!

You're right. With a Trump "mini me" in power, I await with trepidation as well.

Politics are becoming so unpredictable...both sides of the Atlantic.

FYI for those who are not British.

Being from the US, I'm rather ignorant of British politics. I checked Wikipedia to get up to date info; however, the Tory Party history stops at 1832 with the Duke of Wellington as leader. Says the Tory Party was dissolved in 1834.

A note at the top of the article said the newer one is called the Tories and redirected me to Conservative Party (UK).

Yes..,sorry. The name may have been changed to Conservative and Unionist Party, but they are still known in the U.K. as the Tories...much in the way you refer to the GOP for the Republican Party.
