I feel that the reason we have not contacted alien life in other parts of the Universe is because the Universe is such a dangerous place that there is not enough time between extinction events to develop highly intelligent tool using life forms........We are Ghost, driving meat coated skeletons made from stardust, riding a rock, hurtling through space.......Fear nothing

the window of opportunity between different civilizations that have the ability simultaneously is very small. almost astronomical odds.
