Robert Mueller Testimony in Congress Today....

In the land of independent (unbiased) media... LOL

Most Americans get their TV news from free TV channels which are based one way or another. TV watching matters because this testimony was designed to get most visuals from hearing from Mueller that Trump committed crimes.

It is raging very differently on progressive and conservative media. Where is the unbiased media?

So, you think only "free tv" is biased?

Yes, all free TV has corporate owners who tell them which way to bend. I think PBS is unbiased. As good as NPR is, I think it also has a progressive bend. I prefer Google News that shows a collection of news on various platforms and BBC.

Bloomberg had a videos or two. Someone turned fox news on at the gym I go too. I really tried to keep an open mind but I really wanted to turn the d.#@ thing off.

Try foreign media - BBC news, The Guardian website etc.

You are right

CNN is not progressive media.

Dietl Level 7 July 24, 2019

How so? Can I say Fox News is not conservative media?

@St-Sinner Of course, Fox News is conservative because it clearly favours conservative politics in a very biased way. But not being conservative doesn't automatically make a network progressive. It very often supports status quo policies and acts quite hostile towards real progressives.

@Dietl
That can be just your opinion. How is it a fact?

Conservatives argue CNN is a left wing media. Whom to believe? Who is right?

@St-Sinner I am right. Conservatives call Pelosi or Obama communists.

@Dietl
Why believe you and not others?

@St-Sinner Just google what the common definitions of those words are and look how they apply to reality. Watch CNN clips and see how progressive policies get presented there and what policies Pelosi or Obama put forth that can be called communist.
You don't have to believe me. You can check the information for yourself.

@Dietl I have been watching CNN and reading them online for decades since the times of Bernard Shaw, Bobbie Battista etc. CNN today is not only biased but has become an attack dog of progressives.

But again, that is my opinion. Others may have a different opinion.

@Dietl geebus, communism has been dead for at least 20 years.....maybe " socialism" or "progessive" would sound more like you have entered the 21st century?

@AnneWimsey
No, we all know the difference among them all. It is not a matter of opinion but which TV channel is biased is a matter of opinion. To many it is, while some say it is not. The same is true about Fox News.

@St-Sinner You might use the terms differently but progressive is not all the left to me, whatever. Every media or even every person is biased. What we need to find out is where the bias is. CNN for instance I would say has a center-left corporate bias when it comes to most issues. But on foreign policy or military expenses it is pretty right leaning.
@AnneWimsey I'm not even sure conservatives have arrived in the 20th century yet. "Communism" and also "socialism" has been used as a derogatory term for decades now, but it seems like people don't care about that anymore and only want to see policies that work no matter how they are called.

@Dietl I am ok with CNN being at the center-left.

I don't think BBC is biased at least on American news. You agree?

@St-Sinner You see, I don't think that you can't be biased in any way. You can try to presents things as fairly as possible but it will always be through a certain lense that depends on the reporter's biases. I don't know enough about the BBC's reporting on the US to say for sure, but I haven't heard about a huge bias regarding one party or the other. So as far as I know the BBC is at least balanced on this issue. That those reporters at least try to present an issue in a fair and balanced way is the difference to propaganda networks like Fox News, that only want to construct narratives that further the political goal of their owners.

@Dietl

You are right

@St-Sinner That's what I said from the start 😉
(I'm joking of course. I try to stay humble and follow the evidence and reason wherever it leads me)

@Dietl You sure do. I liked your patience, composure and sticking to the facts and you are not one sided. You considered both arguments. It is not common on this platform. I am progressive but not to the extreme.

@St-Sinner Thanks, I also had the impression that you wanted a genuine discussion, since you, also not like others, asked fair questions. I can see how my first comment could have been interpreted and how it lead to our little discussion. I would consider myself progressive to the extreme but we could talk about that at another place and time if you want.

turn on C-span and judge for yourself, I don't need someone to tell me what I just heard.

I don't think that it will make a difference.

  1. Trump has successfully sold his imagined exoneration to American people with gimmicks
  2. Trump has started Tweeting about thanking democrats already
  3. Democrats are a little too late to the party
  4. Progressives have made up their minds already and Conservatives have made up their minds already, they will not swing
  5. The moderates and independents in the middle will go either way, it is unpredictable
  6. All bad things about Trump, much worse than Mueller report were on the ballot box in 2016 and will be again 2020. These bad things did not prevent him from wining
  7. Trump voters said it again and again. They will vote not on his character but performance. Recent polls say Trump is doing a good job on the economy and immigration (52%)
  8. His approval ratings have never been as low as GW Bush's which were in low 30s before the re-election
  9. Currently, Democrats do not have a single powerful candidate who can beat Trump in debates. That made all the difference in his debates in 2016. He destroyed 16 republican establishment candidates. Every candidate we have is an establishment candidate. Trump is an expert in destroying the establishment. That is why the establishment is up in arms against him, he will argue
  10. Most Americans get their news from non-cable sources... either free channels (CBS, ABC, ABC), internet and social media where the majority of the information providers are not independent. We all are fed information with a bias.

@St-Sinner You asked the question where is the independent media not your assinine statement, If you don't want real answers and just want strawman arguments go back to facebook

@glennlab My statement that most American media is not independent meant to suggest those are not unbiased. C-Span is not watched by majority of Americans as it is Cable TV. Most get their news from free TV channels which have either a progressive or conservative bias.

I want real answers but I want relevant answers, not an example of one channel that does not have as much wide audience as free and biased channels.

@St-Sinner Then ask the question you want an answer to and not some other question. You are a classic sea lion, good night.

@glennlab
You are right. I will changed the question to say "Unibased"

@St-Sinner That is not the problem and you know it, the problem is ALL the other qualifiers you added after the fact. Before you answer a reply make sure that the answer is to the response and not some far off bull shit that has nothing to do with the response.

@glennlab You are right. I accept the blame.
