My favorite apologist sent this to me, will you help me out with a response please?
I remember about 1979-80, I was reading a book, I believe "Broca's Brain" by Carl Sagan and he mentioned how JWs kept sending him copies of "Did Man Get Here by Creation or by Evolution." He then picked it apart. Their arguments haven't really changed. All creationists do nothing more than look for supposed flaws in evolution and then use the "god of the gaps" fallacy so since it's not evident beyond a shadow of a doubt then god did it. They never, never offer any type of evidence themselves but simply attack a scientific theory that is probably the most verified and proven scientific theory today. All creationists use this approach that I have seen. As for me, it was only a couple of years later that I completely weaned myself from that horrible religion.
@Allamanda Also they never seem to realize that if evolution were disproved tomorrow it would not make a bit of a difference as whether creationism is true or not. It is a false dilemma fallacy. They are making the claim that god caused creation of everything and in order to do that the burden of proof is on them to give evidence for god. They then use the Bible tells me so argument which proves nothing.
Tell her the Universe has always been here - there was no beginning - matter has been exploding and contracting forever. And sometimes when the conditions are right, molecules can collect in a way that they become the building blocks for life. Over billions of years an explosion of life occurred on this planet. And that's how we got here.
Only made it through part of one question because that's 5th grade level bullshit.
Where did this creator come from? It had to be created out of nothing, an entity far more vast and complex than the universe itself. Which is more likely, however unlikely both scenarios are:
Or
2. God formed from nothing as absolute perfection from the instant it was created and created this imperfect universe when it got bored and needed a whole shitload of things to worship it.
One of those is true, and as fantastical and impossible as #1 sounds #2 is even more far fetched. Let them answer that before you entertain thier silly shit.
Yeah. Spend your time for yourself, not others. Did you give him a book to read?
