So, I have been looking for an alternative to YouTube for several reasons. Reasons such as they are shutting down channels of the most original an interesting content creators in favor of corporate approved money makers that tow the line. Besides the blatant censorship, there are many more reasons, but that isn't the point of this post. In my search I came across a site called BitCHUTE. The point of this post is to warn you NOT TO GO THERE. It is chock full of anti-vaxxers, flat Earthers, anti-semites, racists, Bible Thumpers, misogynists, Nazis, and Woo Peddlers galore. It is honestly a cesspool. There may indeed be videos there worth watching, but they are NOT worth wading through all that to get to them. And for the love of godlessness, do NOT read the comment section!!! But that's just a generally good idea anyway.

Well okay then. I too have my issues with YouTube and sadly have yet to find anything better. Never is anything of real interest to me on the main page so I simply type a query and take my pick. When jazz is the main music interest, old TV mysteries, film noir and old time radio broadcasts are the things I like along with geology, anthropology, history, etc. I do not expect much from youtube.
I have no interest in going to the site you mentioned. I trust your judgment on this.
The rise in hate towards certain groups is alarming and for all the wonderful stuff available via the internet the downside is really ugly.

The problem is that when you tell me these things, I become the nosey teen and need to look! Probably best not on my surface pro...its a work provided one!

You can look, but you will regret it. And no, don't do it on any work provided equipment.

It was unsettling. There's some serious hatred out there and they congregate. (Of course they do).

I bet there are pockets of that all over the net in places I've never heard of. But it's unsettling just the same.

It's a fucking cesspool. I seriously never want to go back there again.

I just watched a video of a 78 year old man singing karaoke....what do you mean, "shutting down" stuff...just search!

@Ms_McSteven anybody can put anything on YouTube, anytime...that singing guy did. I cannot worry about "profit motive" by anybody...and odds are that name you mentioned.....has crooked accountant, or wife, or simply can't count or, oh, wait, wants attention.......

@Ms_McSteven but he is losing, according to him, enormous amounts of money...I stand by my comments.

@Ms_McSteven she obviously doesn't want to be wrong so much that it's going to be hard to get through. But you are 100% correct on everything you said, even if people refuse to listen or care.

The internet now allows for widely geographicly place individuals who are like minded to congregate in cyberspace and thus magnify their sense of importance. There are probably several dozen more sites like that. Back in the 90s, when the internet was somewhat new, it was bullutin boards, then chat rooms, then web sites got more organized. I do not know of another youtube site but there will always be fringe individuals who feel powerless and who gravitate to groups offering quick fixes to their resentments.
