The other day I visited a Hindu Temple. It was beautiful! My Morman friend refused to remove her shoes. Everyone was staring at us! WTF?!
SHe best not go in then. Obnoxious, self - righteous and disrespectful. I hope she gets on alright in life!
When you think of the construct of religion, it specifically sets up the potential for this type of behaviour. Each believes its doctrine is correct and all others are false; there is only the God/s within their religion.
The mormon walks into a Hindu temple thinking the belief is all a silly fairy tale, just as many of us feel about all religions. In many cases, they don't respect other religions, just as non believers don't respect any (while possibly remaining respectful toward the people who believe them).
It's also possible that, not removing her shoes, was for some other reason. I wouldn't consider going anywhere that required me to walk without shoes, in bare feet, or even stocking feet, among many others doing the same. During a podiatric internship I learned that bare feet carry many more fungi, viruses and bacteria than a dry shoe can hold.
Whatever her reasons, if she wasn't willing to remove her shoes, she shouldn't have entered.
There is bacteria everywhere. I know!
Some things are harder to get rid of, however. Foot fungus and other infections are among them, so this argument falls short. Sex transmits a lot of bacteria too, but no one wants an STI.
There's a difference.
I also use a blue light, phone sanitizer. Yes, I'm THAT person.
Haven't had a cold, or sniffle in over 8 years.
All religions have strange requirements....obviously this Mormon only observed her own ones!
Very rude. Ask her how she would like you to visit her temple in your swimming trunks.
People suck. Don't go I to other people's spaces if you can't respect them. It's not hard to stay home.
Was this because she is Mormon, or just rude?
