In somewhat of a darkened mood today... and it made me think of this article from earlier in the year.
The Presidency has been turned into the Gong Show... half of our 2 party system has become a nest of score-settlers, white nationalists, immigrant bashers, homophobes, science-deniers and religious zealots who embrace and praise a guy who is so obviously a snakeoil salesman, and a cad. A man who - while occupying the highest public office - openly foments bigotry and ethnic division. The politics of today surely cannot endure... but might it be too late for american society? Can America un-do the broader harm being caused here??? I must admit, my faith in humanity has been taxed during the last few months. The primary debates have not helped. The events of recent days have also not helped. I am, frankly, worried. I need to hear some optimism if you still have it...
