When the Falkland Islands were invaded I found it very difficult not to go and volunteer for service. I felt quite ashamed of myself. I knew full well that if the British Army had me, it would be over before I got anywhere to become an international target for some poor Argie conscript to take a pop at me or me at him.
I've worked in the Army, I've studied history, but why did I feel I had to do something to defend a lump of rock the government didn't really care about so far away?

Interesting that humans are so active in using this method of conflict so often. When at some point a Nation State becomes so angry it has to come into battle with another Nation State.
It isn't as though a hill in France hates a forest in Germany and forces the people who live on them to fight eachother and destroy that geographical feature. Wars are between societies.

Unfortunately, as long as nuclear weapons are allowed to stay on the planet, it is only a matter of time, and the statistics will catch up with us. It is not a matter of if, only a matter of when.

@Archeus_Lore The once big militaries of the world have shrunk, which means that they an no longer fight a protracted 'Great War' without resorting to Atomics or Nukes.
With things in Kashmir suddenly becoming tense, it could be an Indo-Pakistan war which will kick things off.
My Gods bigger than your God! Yes but I have more of them!

@Archeus_Lore ,
the major powers won't wipe each other out. there might be small nuke attacks on the periphery of each's alliances a la "1984"

callmedubious Cances are very good that it will be a small nation getting its butt kicked by a larger nation that lets loose, becuase they have nothing left to lose; then the larger nation will retaliate and that will be the end of it all.

Yes USA gave or sold guns on all sides in Syria and falsely blame Dr Assad for defending his country from invaders

What I find interesting, is that no report from the UN directly name Assad as the perpetrator, and yet the US blamed him . . . . with zero evidence . . . . and all the sheep who listen to the lying US media will scream in anger if you say a thing about it being unproven. All they have to do is get off their asses and go to the UN site, read the fucking report, and they will realise there is no direct proof Assad was guilty of using chemical weapons, and, on top of that, he was winning the war, and he is going to do something stupid like use chemical weapons, just so the US can come in and fuck everything up? But the sheep believe what they hear, and never ask for a shred of evidence . . . the same thing that got us into Iraq, killed nearly a million people, and these fucking sheep learned nothing from it.
