I can commiserate with you on that Rich. Not only am I the only atheist in my family, I am also the only one who holds conservative political views, my family are all Democrats. So I'm really the black sheep of my family. All my friends are religious (as far as I know anyway). This site is a retreat from the world of religious lunacy, even if said retreat is only temporary.

I totally agree with you. It can be be very tough sometimes when there's nobody that picks up what you are feeling about these issues. There are a lot of us here, you should have no problem finding people to relate to.

Yeah it always seems lonely when you have religious family, but who knows who else in your life could be atheist. I thought I was alone but I found out that my uncle was too which made me more confidant about it.

It is in the U.S. at least, if you just want to hang with atheists. For example I find a lot of camaraderie with friends in the arts as well.
