Love it.

I'd add 'serious consequences for operating when user impaired'.
We already sort of have 'serious consequences for operating to commit a crime'.

Too many people in this country regard guns as toys. I once worked with a guy who admitted he owned a pistol but he said it was ok because he was afraid of it and never did anything dangerous with it.
A few days later I saw him with it in our lunch room playing by sliding the action and dry firing it.

As far as I have seen, handling weapons is for some people like going out in the wild. A lot of people leave their brains at home.

Absolutely right. Thanks for the comment.

I've been saying this for years. But as long as NRA is so powerful it will never happen.

There have been sporadic efforts by Michael Bloomberg and representative Gabby Giffords, the majority of the nation's voters want more gun control (assault weapons for sure) but no man, woman, party, association, group or think tank have been able to match NRA's influence and bullying in Washington and state legislatures across the country in 40 years that I have been watching. We have lost this war consistently for decades. I guarantee that all outcries will go quiet in just a week and we will turn to regular issues like borders, immigration, North Korea, trade agreements, economy etc. This nation will forget the victims. Sandy Hook proved that effectively. If little children's killing cannot make us do it, nothing ever can.

@St-Sinner Yes I have always thought that Sandy Hook was the moment our country died as a nation of compassion and caring.

@AmelieMatisse @St-Sinner I completely agree. When absolutely nothing was done after Sandy Hook, I knew we were now a country who valued our guns over our children. It's a waste of time to hope that we will ever change. And in a few days we will forget the lessons of El Paso and Dayton until the next massacre.
