Shark Week on Discovery -- I don't get it.
Why does the apex predator of the sea get its own week of programming on Discovery channel? Why not Eagle Week for the apex predator of the air, or Lion Week for the apex predator on land? Why all this favoritism for a fish?
Why does it even have to center around an apex predator? I like sea otters so why not Sea Otter Week? Snake are cool so where's Snake Week?
Bugs are awesome. I want a week devoted entirely to insects.

I'm down for that. I don't know enough about hippos so there's room to learn something.
All of those things would be awesome, and honestly I think shark week has burnt itself out. Send them a letter or email or something.

Apex predator of the land would be us, I'd think.
Agree 100% about sea otter week. Programming like that might have tempted me to keep cable.

UGH! I rarely view documentaries on people. I get enough of us as it is.

@Sgt_Spanky only the interesting ones get documentaries made about them, though. Besides, at the history channel its Nazi week every week, so the land apex is covered.
