That excuse was only ancillary to the defense that he had a traumatic brain injury. Besides, the attorney was just doing his job, to zealously defend his client.

Remember a similar protocol in base theaters. Before they play the movie, they play the national anthem. Most removed their hats, as instructed, but occasionally there'd be those who didn't, and often, someone'd say something to them. If the person removed their hat, great, but if not, they wouldn't be body-slammed or otherwise harmed. This guy knows he's in the wrong and is making excuses and hiding behind mock patriotism to try and get away with it.

That's a lame excuse even from a Trump Supporter. If you assault someone, THAT is considered a crime.
