Creationists mock science by implying that nothing complex can exist without a creator. They imply this by confusing the organic with the inorganic, by for example making a comparison between a watch and a living system, which at best is scientifically illiterate, whilst at the same time is utterly dependant upon an internal flaw in its own logic, namely that it requires you to accept that the single most complex and advanced entity in existence not only didn't require a designer or a creator, but that that entity has always existed and therefore didn't need to be itself created. To brush aside the logical inconsistency with such a meaningless and nonsensical assertion such as the fanciful notion of the 'infinite god who has neither beginning nor end' which is entirely based upon wishful thinking and a failure to face the nature of reality is just lazy rationalization, devoid of reason.

And yet it requires observation, contemplation, intuition and intelligence to comprehend the laws of the universe. Are these attributes all properties of matter?

Wron, yes. It is not lazy, but takes a lot of effort to contrive such contorted logic to justify one's religious dogma.

Close minded people thrive on circular logic. It seems to be enough for them, sadly. The intelligent design theory is an attempt to anthropomorphize our own existence.

But then you could ask them "who then created something as complex as god?" And that easily backfires that argument. It's circular logic.
