The divide between Democratic candidates for the Presidency: Moderate vs. Progressive, older vs. younger, male vs. female is reflective of the push-pull in society today. Lots of dynamics. Should be interesting to see how they shake up this winter.

Regardless, whomsoever becomes the candidate they have an uphill battle. The Republican war chest is substantial, and the Democratic war chest is split in at least four ways, if not more.

It goes without saying that the amoral Trump supporters will turn out. Even though the President has given them little more than lip service.

The promised wall is not being built. Deteriorating segments are being replaced, with money allocated when Obama was in office. If I remember right only about 40 feet of new construction has been completed by Trump.

His tax cut which primarily favored the top 10% and large corporations is slowing down. Any benefit that the average citizen experienced is about to end for those people earning less than $100,000 per year.

He has indelibly etched into the American psyche and historical legacy that all his supporters and most Republicans are racist. It will be recorded in the history books as such. Furthermore, he has turned the images of immigration into a vision that hearkens many back to the images of German detainment camps and Soviet Gulag. It will be written in the history books.

He has removed us from treaties as promised, but through his isolationist polices has not made us any safer. In fact, he has initiated the beginnings of a new cold war with Russia, and opened the door for Iran to accomplish what Obama had put a temporary stop to. Insulted our traditional allies, almost beyond repair, driven the American reputation into the ground.

He has repealed regulations meant to protect the continent for future generations in the name of jobs. Only to see a continued exodus by corporations out of the country. And has nearly broken the back of the county's farmers with his tarriffs and trade war with China.

Despite all these failing, his loyal supporters and the rest of the balless Republican tribe will show up in 2020. The only hope is that Dems coalesce around a candidate by the Democratic convention, and the contigrncy that did not turn out in 2016, decide to show up.

I believe that the exchanges taking place between the Democratic candidates is strengthening the party. It is fleshing out the details in needed po9litical change and building more and more enthusiasm among an ever widening group of Democrats. I believe that they will turn out in droves -- both to support needed change, and to beat "Trump and the Republicans so that their damage stops.

I tend to agree with you. We can only hope.

I think the one good thing Trump did is show ordinary people the contempt the ruling class has for them.
