For a long time I was a pro football fan. Watched my hometown team the Dallas Cowboys whenever possible.
As I have gotten older none of sporting events thrill me.
I stay informed on what is happening by reading results.
I was thrilled by the Women's World Cup win, but never watched a game. Same with college games and Olympics.
Happy for the teams and contestants just don't want to watch anymore.

Same here except for OU football. I have slowly lost interest in the Cowboys after the way Jones handled Landry, Johnson, and Switzer. I quit playing golf and lost interest in watching it. I might grab the last couple of minutes in an NBA playoff if I run into it channel surfing, and it is the same with NCAA basketball tournament. I've just lost interest in watching , but still interested in some outcomes.

hmm. the big thing about being a sports fan is the vicarious participation in a sport.
i watch soccer occasionally even though i never played it. but i really enjoy tennis, golf & boxing b/c i participated in all 3 & still golf.

I still play softball and yes baseball is my favorite sport. I enjoy going to baseball games. More fan friendly. At least here.
