This is a toughy. I don't want to take anything away from any of these men. Some would say Hawking because of all he managed to discover/figure. However, he had technological resources at his disposal that the others could only imagine; modern telescopes, satellites, and the hadron collider to name a few.

Imagine what Einstein could have done with the collider.

I'd have to refer you to Newton as well, with his quote ..." If I have seen further than others, it is by standing on the shoulders of others"... Deeper than most give credit. He realized the importance of the contributions of his predecessors, and acknowledged his progress was only because of them... But I chose Tesla?
