Wicca is a fun thing to do, if you can find 12 other like minded women to practice with. I enjoy shocking people now and then. I attended a workshop on Croning a long time ago. I was telling a friend about it, and said when I went in to the meeting room I found myself surrounded by Wiccans. She said what is a Wiccan ? My daughter, always helpful, said WITCHES. My friend looked surprised for a minute, then said "oh, you mean women that think they are witches." I replied " in much the same way that Baptists think they are Christians." There are people that believe aromatherapy or acupuncture will help them. There are people that believe psychotherapy will help them. Believing is the magic word. In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have believed the Orthopedic Surgeon and I dammed sure could have skipped the colonoscopy.

I joined a Wiccan Atheist FB group - you had to answer questions to get in? Than I got in and walked back out.

Turns out they believe in spell work. That baffled me.

They wanted me to know that essential oils are woo - but they believe in spells.

I thought maybe they were an empowerment group that liked ritual - not that particular group!

Also crystals are just pretty! Nothing wrong with gathering with like minded people. However you find them.

I have two main thoughts on Wicca. 1: It's every bit as much a load of bollocks as every other religion. 2: Its adherents seem to be free to practice it in whichever way suits them, and they don't go around telling people who follow other religions or those who, like me, think all religion is bollocks, that they're wrong. Nor do they persecute women or gay people.

So, to sum up, I'm perfectly happy to associate with Wiccans provided they don't go waving healing crystals at me or anything like that. I was even a regular customer at the local witchy shop, back when I lived in London, but that was largely because they sold really nice flapjack and had a couple of very lovely cats.

The corollary to two ways to be unhappy is don't want.

Standing on your own two feet and making your own choices based on logic and empathy with other humans is what you need to do. Find your own path using your own instincts, forget about any of that other mumbo-jumbo, is my advice,

If you think praying/chanting/spellcasting of any kind, instead grit & actual hard work, is going to "get you what you want" good luck to you!
