One of the main ideological critiques of modern Communism is that a controlled economy is controlled by individuals, either in the form of a political party whose members lean towards policies that enrich them personally, or by a single individual in the form of a dictator whose policies serve to entrench their power.
But what if a controlled economy was deliniated by a document or an "economic constitution". Such a document could have fundamental principles maximizing equality and production and could allow amendments for new paradigms not yet considered.
Just an idea I had when thinking about the original Bolsheviks.

Nice idea but at the end of the day humans will still administer and manipulate it. It’s what people do.
Unless I am getting the wrong end of the idea here.

Yes, people are people. Maybe so, but I think having a document laying out fundamentals would be a "more just" economic system than the arbitrary market we have now.

@towkneed I’m sure one must exist somewhere. Late 60s and 70d were rife with such ideas!

"COMMUNISM"???? Really? news flash...it has been debunked as a viable theory for several Decades now....

Sorry, but did you stop at that word? I'm not sure if you actually read what I posted. I agree that it's not viable. That was kinda the point.

@towkneed There is and has been a huge, fake movement to equate "communism" with "socialism" as a way to smear progessive-leaning politicians such as Bernie.....we have to be very careful it does not 8nsinuate itself any farther.

It does not matter what sort of a constitution or document you have, since in any state, not just communist, you will always have a political establishment, and that political establishment will always find a way to distort the mechanics of government in its favour to redirect wealth and power to itself.

All governments are dominated by political establishments, and there are no real differences between political establishments and private corporations in terms of seeking profits, regardless of the costs to the majority of people. Therefore, in any country, any lessening of democracy, (most have very little to start with) or the giving of more responsibility to government, is the exact equivalent of selling your country to a private company; as though you were to sell the US to Monsanto or Google. This is the great logical failing at the heart of communism, taking the worst possible nightmare they could think of and proposing it as a solution, which most pro-communists and extreme socialists fail to see or address.

To have an economic constitution that provides for equality and effectual production is an interesting idea, and I'd like to know what great economists think about it.

China is a state directed capitalism system. This is a long way from the communism of Mao's "Great Leap Forward" or the "Cultural Revolution". I recently returned from China where I was told the central government had built a large factory, maybe 100 acres and leases that factory to their company for free for 7 years. The central government seems to own all the land and they make long term leases as opposed to fee sales. It remains to be seen if this idea will work in the long run.
