Facebook has deleted / blocked my account. Official reason: there were "suspicious activities" there, and for security reasons I wouldn't have access anymore.
That's nonsense, of course. The real reason, I guess, is that I'm too passive : I look at a lot of things, I have subscribed to many sites of newspapers, scientific journals, people like Robert Reich - but I don't have FB friends, I don't post anything, do not make links ... little "traffic" means little data that FB can 'mine' and use commercially. And when they show me ads I click them away unread. So for them I'm a kind of parasite: I use the site passively, but don't reveal anything valuable.
Now they are fed up with me and kicked me out.
Why don't they make this their official policy :
"Dear users: if you want to use FB for free, it is required that you participate actively and read our ads. If you prefer an ad-free FB this would cost you 4 USD per month."
That would be fair and transparent, and I would pay for the service.
I doubt this is why you were kicked off, during the '16 election, I was on there 24/7/365, for Bernie, have not been on there more than 10 minutes Total since Clintonl ost. Still on there if I want, I check pix/posts friends notify me of sometimes too.
I would suspect identity theft or that someone complained about you.....good luck!
I have never had and never will have an official Facebook account for this reason exactly. Anyone who thinks their data Is less valuable than the ability to socialize has no idea what they are giving up.
When companies, individuals, and political candidates use bot networks to influence social media, they do so in ways that mimic real people to the maximum extent posible. There is a limit to this capability however because even high end bots don't say, make original posts or comments. The ones that do either pull from a list or use basic chat AI to make some usualy incoherent nonsense.
All of this considered based on your own description you were behaving like a low end bot and Facebook needs to get rid of them because they are parasites for the sites, and they can manipulate information if properly aplied.
Facebook of corse has a double standard for bot use and hires external agencies to use bots on paying customers to bost their likes, suposably boosting their status. It doesn't work, because number of likes is meaning less when they are artificialy inflated.
I canceled my Facebook account at the end of 2018 and like geoffrey51 they said it would take 30 days to remove I haven't been back since for it makes little difference to me nor was I very active except on the Volt owners website, but now I just check up with people on voltstats.Net
Your assessment that you are not giving them enough info is probably correct. I use this same name on Facebook and I call myself a political activist. I do participate in things there that originate on other sites. I do have a friends list but I am not actively looking for new friends. Poor Facebook is showing me info on people from all over the world that it thinks I might know. This is because FB has determined that some in other lands do know me, and one black lady even called me a relative. I'm sure that they do harvest certain opinions and mindsets from my posts that help in political opinions in some group think.
Sounds like a result. Took me some while to work out how to untangle myself from the Facebook nonsense then they said it would take 30 days for my account to be removed. Why? Turn it off. Job done!
