Swimming pool questions...

Hello all! I am currently house-hunting, and I think I might maybe possibly perchance be about to write an offer on the house that could work out really nicely for me, my needs, and my desires. One thing that I have missed (since moving out of the home where I raised my family) was having a swimming pool, and I want one in my new home. I have some physical issues, and no-impact water work is my best exercise!

So.. my questions are for anyone who has done a pool installation, or currently has a pool, and can offer suggestions and opinions. I am thinking that I would prefer a salt-water pool, and it does not need to be large. I cannot swim laps, so I need a depth to allow me to tread water for my exercise, and the pool would need to be at least 6 feet deep.

I am hoping for opinions on the types of construction: concrete, forms, liners, etc, as well as types of pumps, heaters (electric or solar), maintenance, etc.

Thank you!!

REC Group is the leading solar panel maker in Europe and has operations in those regions as well as the Americas, Asia, and Oceania. The Norwegian firm began operations in 1996, and now its solar panels are produced in Singapore. In 2014, REC made headlines by developing half-cut cell technology, which increased the efficiency of solar panels by slicing solar cells in half. Read here: [recsolarpanels.com]

I have read just the opposite, so can you point out specifics? I really want to know! Thanks!

I love having a pool to exercise in every day. Mine is outdoor and not heated, but I prefer warm water to cold, so I was happy when we went from a light painted concrete to dark blue tile, which seems to keep the water a bit warmer in the summer. Mine is chlorine, and I enjoy it. I'm no expert on pool maintenance, but I hear salt water is better. We have a guy who comes everyday and keeps everything working well. We are hoping to start heating the water with solar next winter. When the water is too cold for me in the winter, I just use a wet suit, but it's a real pain to put on. I don't really have any tips, but encourage you to put in a pool that you will use often. Good for relaxing as well as exercise and can be a nice social feature as well.

Don't make it big - everybody would come to visit

Julie808 - thanks for replying, I appreciate your thoughts! I will need to heat the pool - although I do not like it hot, since I will be exercising - but am looking into solar-power to add to the "purchased" power, and I will be having a cover installed. I am also looking into an enclosed area for around the pool: a solarium or sun room or whatever they'll call it!

@AgnoBill - I have thought of that!! I want it just large enough for me to do my exercising, but not so large that the whole family will want to swim!
