So, its appears a bunch of Floridians are at the coast. And are actually trying to use prayer to make Dorian either go away or miss them. Is this delusion actually a thing with people? And should they be charged with a crime, or made to pay for any rescue that may be needed. Should they stay and get caught in the storm surge?

Don't be so quick on the laughs and condemnations. There is some evidence, outside of religious circles, that the thought driven power of people can at the quantum level affect the "real" world on a physical level. In theory if enough individuals directed the force of their wills to a specific goal it could create a cascade of events, again on the quantum scale, that would affect the large world. While in the case of something as large and powerful as Hurricane Dorian it probably would be barely noticeable, it could happen. Even though there are scientific explanations for Dorian's stalled movement over the Bahamas the prayers (read that directed thoughts) of people may be in play. Keeping in mind that there are also thousands of Americans who would love to see Trump's Mara Lago resort become a new channel of open water through the barrier island it's built on...

Hopefully Darwin awards all round.

I think they should actually be encouraged to go to the coast. We really need fewer people like this in our society.

The last I heard, it is not a crime for being a brain washed nitwit

As they say in the south, bless their little hearts!

HAH! from another Southerner! Bless their lil' ol' hearts!

@LucyLoohoo What about bless their pea-pickin hearts [answers.com]

@JackPedigo Jack, the only person I ever heard say that phrase was Tennessee Ernie Ford, in a song. (How've you been?)

@LucyLoohoo Lucy, Great (no more cast and hand is almost perfect) thanks for asking.
So that's where it came from. Funny, but in 1960 my dad found a job in California (near Sacramento). He left and said he would send for us. After 2 months my mother got tired of waiting and loaded the 5 of us on a train (from Dallas). It just so happened Tennessee Ernie Ford was on that train. We used to listen to him on the radio and TV.

@JackPedigo

Glad things are going well! Will you be in Wisconsin next month?

@LucyLoohoo Thanks for this. I had forgotten what he looked like. No, I have been to Madison twice and the flight is rough for me. I do plan to go to the next one in San Antonio, though.

The best bit is if they get carried away it will be deemed God’s will and to reflect on the ‘poor souls’ as martyrs for trying to help but god had a ‘different plan’ to show ‘the might of the Devil’ if left unattended. After all they were no different to ‘the glorious second century apostles. A whole narrative could be created around them.

Alternative Dorian might go away and the power of prayer has been irrefutably demonstrated.

Either way, no lose for the evangelicals!

Maybe they get washed out to sea

Natural selection in action I’d say!
