God, Santa Claus and religious indoctrination.
Children's minds are like dry sponges and readily absorb information, any information, by sight and touch, by word and by smell. From my own childhood experience of Christmas when I was told that father Christmas was coming with gifts, I was sold on the idea. I also remember being told by an older kid that it was all made up after being a solid believer, the disillusion I felt was enormous, a horrid experience for a child! Strange thing is that nobody ever said that God is the same deal. There was no contest when you rumbled the Santa Claus make believe, just "he knows the truth now". God on the other hand, quite as ridiculous an assertion, was never to be doubted or indeed rumbled. Polluting the minds of children with lies and speculation to the extent that they are believers in the non existent is a crime and should be punished severely.
I still remember being told by older kids that Santa didn't exist and it was my parents who provided the gifts.I don't think it really bothered me, after all I still got the gifts.
As for the non existence of gods., no one told me that, I found that out for myself. Reading the old testament of the bible should be enough to convince anyone that the Jewish god is fictional.
It’s both refreshing and depressing to read such an honest and unfortunately common description of the way it actually is. Is it an indescribable pact we make with society ... that we’ll pretend about things only the most ignorant or despicable believe or promote? Is it the price of admission, or the secret handshake..?
Your honesty must scare the shit out of them! But what are they afraid of? There’s no santa making a list.. or god keeping score ..or devil to dodge… Have they simply played the game so long they’ve become part of it? They’ve not only learned to lie to themselves ..but to others, including children?! Are they too weak to admit they’ve been wrong, or were lying..?
As is, they are shit - You are golden.
Can’t say The Father Christmas deniers got to me. I guess I was about seven when the man behind the curtain was revealed.
No big deal, I was on the way there myself I guess. I do remember Father Christmas being a fun part of Christmas and I look back with fond memories on the half eaten mince pie on the plate and empty glass of milk.
Perhaps the Father Christmas deniers could quit their masquerading in common sense hats and allow some magic. Perhaps replacing the fantasy with the alcoholic abusive Christmas tradition which is in the ascendancy is not necessarily a good thing for children to experience.
So what do we want. Ole Father Christmas or Drunk Uncle George
The truth would be a good start!
