I notice many around here hung up on “authority.” It’s led me to believe ..they’re not as much atheistic or agnostic due to the honest reality of it, but as a way to escape or deny power to an ‘authority.’ In this case, religious..

There are plenty of reasons for authority to exist. Having been a parent, it was necessary. Authority is usually designated carefully, not just anyone gets to ‘be a general.’

It’s how authority is determined and administered that we must keep an eye on. Otherwise, though I resented them at the time … my school principals were generally right in their assessment of our behavior and the appropriate punishment..

It’s sad when parents drill that respect for adults and authority into their children and then they grow up to be followers who don’t question anything.
