For you seasoned travelers out there, do you have any suggestions on a good site or app for shopping for a flight?

For flights only I usually book directly through the airline's site. I check several airlines, and look for seat sales or the most economical time/date to fly if that is pretty flexible. For flight, hotel, and more, I use Expedia. I've used some other sites and was always unsure if it's legit or I've had issues getting all the info and documents I need. I may not get the cheapest prices but at least I know I'm really getting what I booked.

As a hospitality worker, it surprises me how reliable you find Expedia. We had several instances this summer where someone showed up at the Lodge with an Expedia reservation (paid and everything) but there was no corresponding reservation in our system because Expedia had never sent the info over. We also frequently get wrong dates and room types from them. It can be a real pain to deal with.

@JeremyTaylor That is pretty weird. Of course, I use Expedia.ca. I don’t know how different it would be with Expedia.com. May be they handle much higher volume from US customers and more mistakes happen. I’ve never had any issues myself and rely on them a lot and have always been happy with them. If in doubt, deal directly with the airline, etc. I guess.

I used CHEAPTICKETS.com for international flights last May and I was satisfied. There aren't many ''real'' bargains because of hidden costs but that's the way of the world today.
