What are your thoughts on the sentence meted out to Felicity Huffman (two weeks in jail, $30,000 fine, couple hundred hours of community service) for the crime of paying $15,000 to a crook to get Felicity's daughter accepted into a desirable, highly competitive college? To my way of thinking, a better sentence would have been requiring Miss Huffman to pay full tuition and fees for at least three legitimately qualified students who are struggling financially.

We will not know if it is fair or not until all the non celebrities receive their penalties. She was the first as far as I know to be sentenced.

I think a jail sentence for that type of crime is absurd. Who does it benefit? Certainly not the state that’s for sure. Does it deter? No! Work out what it is going to cost to incarcerate and then make that the fine. No drain on state resource and a a hefty chunk into the state coffers.

Whoever thought this was a jailable offensive is not thinking it through.

Too short. Travesty of justice. People know shit walks when money talks. Her attorney gave a good advice.... "Don't make a pleas deal with the U.S. Attorney. You will get away with a very light sentence without admitting guilt."

Not nearly long enough, and while your solution is poetically nice and all its a trivial amount to her that will impact her finances/life about as much as a traffic ticket would affect you or I.
