About legal immigration to US

From personal experience, it is so stressful to even get a tourist visa to US (i got one when I was a kid) that I never plan to return to this country again.
Even tourists are treated as shit on the embassies and need to open our privacy. I can imagine the massive stress if i got a job there.
Unless of course you are a trophy wife XD.

"Legal immigration is good." "...it increases economical growth."
Funny, coming from a person who is British. My late partner was from Iran who came to the US at 24 on a student visa (with her husband and 2 kids). When the revolution broke out they were trapped and she did the process to become legal. It took years, lots of money and frustrations but, one by one, they got their citizenship. She (and others like her) saw the amnesty program as a slap in the face of all those who did the work. I emigrated to Germany and also had to do some paperwork and spend money so I have a slight feeling of how this feels. The amnesty programs reward people breaking the law plain and simple. Another early comment made was, "it is complex." People resort to sound bytes and simple ideas to foster that is very, very complex and had huge repercussions.

People say that we are helping others AND we are getting people to do the work we won't do. So, in effect, we want to help but, at the same time, exploit others! In this country, and I suspect others, industry puts a lot of money into increasing immigration as it is a way to get cheap and compliant workers. The one thing that has been shown to help is E-verify yet lobbyists continually keep it from being the law and, in places where it is implemented companies find ways around it. My posting from the Union of Concerned Scientists concerning the chicken industries highlight this.

My question is that we are told in order to solve the problem of climate change we need to gut our carbon footprint and reduce our greenhouse gas generation yet we support bringing in millions of people who come here to increase their environmental footprint. Countries continue to increase their immigration quotas and then scratch their head at why the populace vote conservative. Excessive immigration is often touted as a reason behind Brexit. When I left Germany in 1989 the Soviet Union was crumbling and immigrants were flooding into Germany. The citizens complained that even their soccer fields had become tent city and that immigrants were starting to have more rights than the citizens. As I remember Helmut Kohl was ousted as chancellor because of this issue. I would love for someone to tell me how immigration helps our environment. Is helping people (and our economy) more important than preserving the life support system under which all must live (immigrants and citizens alike)? Obviously, for some it is.

I can attest to this. I spent alot of time in the Detroit immigration center with my ex husband. He was eventually deported but we spent alot of time in the area for regular legal immigrants to and they were treated like crap. Like DMV Social Security office combined with an ora of American superiority with a courtroom type atmosphere...

And there is one thing more, you need to buy tickets and reserve hotels before asking for the visa, and sometimes they simply take 2 or 3 times the time to analyse or deny it, and then you lost all money. Even if your documentation is all correct. I remember when I was a kid e started the process months before the trip, in theory there was plenty of time, but it delayed so bad that I got it 1 week before.
