Democracy in Chains. The Libertarian plan for America. The president is the tumour, not the cancer. This is the best reason for major reforms to the income tax and wealth tax system because the billionaires would not be able to fund their reforms.
I love it how they talk about the Koch brothers like this is a new development, and the baseless assumption that trump is a libertarian, he is the opposite, he is national socialist and very authoritarian in nature. His campaign had lots of libertarian promises, but once in office basically everything he has done has been straight out of Sinclair Lewis's "It can't happen here"
Libertarianism is important because it creates an anti-authoritarian anchor that is supposed to prevent the government from gaining to much power thus keeping government intervention to a minimum allowing citizens to do as they please. Whatever wealth and power accumulated should be justified so long as everyone has had the same opportunity to have gained that wealth. The idea is to maximize freedom across the board for everyone by taking away only the freedoms that allows infringement on the rights of others.
Watching this video I can't help but feel like Nancy is unreliable and has ulterior motives, because she spends most of her time attempting to change the narrative and almost no time actually providing solutions and any kind of framework for moving forward. At 44:00 she freaks out declaring this to not be a conspiracy. Also whats the deal with the guitar song at the end inciting violence? It seems really out of place and makes it impossible for me to take any of this seriously, same with the vague star wars theme for this event that I didn't notice until I re watched the Q+A and saw the light sabers on the table. (I listened to it in the background doing other stuff) A quick google search will reveal that many critics of her book "Democracy in Chains" have said that she made stuff up. Apparently she can't take criticism of her work very well, which is a giant gapping red flag usually indicating low constitution and lack of integrity.
I would take everything she says with a grain of salt.
@ToolGuy I haven't read the book, but 30 seconds of web search found me this:
ppl are clueless as to how much power the elites/billionaires have. one of them--Cooperman, stated on TV this week that if Warren was elected then the stock mkt might not open the next day. that is a nothing less than a threat.
these billionaires could cause & then withstand a financial crash of 50% which would wipe most ppl out & still have billions left with which to buy up the then reasonably priced stocks.
It's all done by distraction and diversion. Tell a Trumper that and they don't know what you are talking about. They also do not know what a wedge issue is. In this world of oligarchy vs. democracy the ones in power have to provoke your anger so you will willingly give up your money. Recently one of them told me that "Hillary lost." This wasn't even what the conversation was about. Trumpers also have a hard time understanding why records are sealed. Is this the height of ignorance? I can't even get my own dead sister's birth certificate. Maybe they will let me take a look at the one for George W. Bush. As a private citizen I have no right to see who's name is on a contract or how much Charlie made on his book deal. Trumpers want their man to keep going after Hillary and Obama, and if they get locked up Trump is doing a great job. Damn, what ignorance!
