Recently, I watched a YouTube video about those expensive glasses that allow a color blind person to perceive color. Then I watched a documentary about how the world looks through the multi-faceted eye of a bumble bee, and finally I watched a video about the different spectra of light and how the human eye only perceives a limited number. I came away from all these experiences wondering what an alien visitor to the earth might "see" as he/she/it stepped out of it's spaceship. Our version of reality is so, so limited.

Evolution dictates what reality will be for each species. Aliens will have their reality run through the filter of their particular evolutionary path. It is entirely possible that an advanced species from another planet could have less of an understanding of reality through their senses than we do.
