People ask just how much respect we should give to others views like religion. I answer by saying that there are people that think that pro-wrestling is real

I respect the right of others to believe and practice as they wish, so long as they afford me the same rights and they harm no others in the process.

I do not think that religious ideation is entitled to be uncritically accepted by one and all on pain of the accusation of blasphemy, or that there should be an un-level playing field in the marketplace of ideas where religious ideation gets special treatment in the form of unearned deference and respect, or that religion should get to run contrary to the public good (e.g., not vaccinating children for contagious diseases, damaging herd immunity).

All I ask of religion is that it substantiate its truth claims the same as I substantiate mine.

Every once in a great while I will meet a Christian who says their beliefs are their own and not binding on anyone else, and that they cannot substantiate them with data, evidence, or logical argument, but simply choose them anyway. I have ZERO malfunction with such people. But they are RARE. I have known even liberal Christians to become agitated and defensive and shaming around my failure to acknowledge that there's a valid basis for them to believe in their god. Even when I put it in impersonal terms and blame myself by saying that I cannot accept their arguments for the existence of god even to the extent of saying it opens a possibility or that their beliefs are "reasonable" ... the most I can say is that I find them understandable. But that's not good enough for them.

And I knew an otherwise quite intelligent guy, great chess player who was convinced that pro-wrestling was real. In the end I had to say to him "Okay go down to the bookmakers (betting is legal here) and try and bet on it".
I get what you say about the benign ones that say "Its just what I believe" and I respect them (not their beliefs). Others that claim some divine right to maintain there really is a tooth fairy deserve all that I can be arsed giving them.

Do you burst that bubble?

It may look like a bubble, but it bursts like a ball bearing.
