I feel that some of the deniers have missed the point.

Well, yes and noooooo.

There are more trees on Earth today than there have been in decades and decades.

So while we have more of these oxygen producing giants than ever, it's kind of a weird trade off? Like, we've lost a lot of tree cover in South America for whatever reason, but it's been gained back in other parts of the world. Unfortunately, some of these are just giant wood plantations that, while they still produce oxygen, aren't exactly these biodiverse habitats natural forests are.

Why not check out this thing called google earth and watch the amazon, Indonesia & Malaysia burning in real time please let me know the source of your information. Palm Oil.

@rathswohl More than happy to.

And I could have found many more.

It is not in dispute that the world has more tree cover today than it did decades ago.

Yes, we are losing priceless world treasures every time a tree in the Amazon burns, and it being replaced by a tree farm isn't enough, but that's not what we're talking about.

@Xuande thanks for that however I have seen what looks like green paint in China and when I consider that population is increasing do not know where people are building houses in the USA but over here Koalas are being evicted by house builders so native vegetation is replaced by developments and Australia has the worst animal extinction rates in the world. I find it difficult to believe that we have more trees now than ever before and to me this statement can not be logically true. I would still be interested to discover where this statement came from.

@Xuande I have just re-read the NASA document and it says we have more green cover than we have had in the last 20 years but most of it is agriculture some of it probably trees. What about before the last 20 years? We have to feed the expanding population and that is another conversation. As you have duly noted there are entire ecosystems disappearing in the amazon and scientists are currently working to find a cure for cancer by researching the fungus that grows on the fur of sloths that live in the trees before they are cut down for palm Oil plantations. I agree it is not about C02 I do not think Co2 is a valid argument. It is about the trees though. They are destroying forests that no one knows anything about for palm oil. I feel that the statement about more trees now could be a bit misleading for that reason. I am thinking that we are on the same side though.
