Pumpkin Pie, anyone! Betty Crocker recipe. My pie crust is a standard shortening crust. I had been making all butter ones but couldn't get them to come out quite right. I think because I buy inexpensive butter and it has more water in it. So I went back to Crisco. lol Looks good, smells amazing!

Family History:

The pastry cutter in the pics was my grandmothers. She got it as a wedding gift in 1902. She married at 14/15. It had a painted handle but the paint came off years ago except for a few bits you can see there. I don't even want to know if the paint had lead in it, probably did. I've had this since she died when I was 13 in 1970. The pie plate was my aunts (he daughter) and I got it in 1974. It's a 10" pie plate and fluted edge. It's not fancy but my fav of my pie plates.

The mixing bowl with the handle is my new thing. My old one bit the dust and I looked for weeks to find one like it but it was a Tupperware one with a handle and lid and is not made anymore. This one doesn't have a lid but I like the handle and it has a pour spout and spoon rest. There are also measurements on the inside.

My daughter and I are going out to lunch today and this is our dessert. ❤

I will also be making banana pancakes tomorrow for #2 grandson. 🙂

I hate pumpkin pie, but I make one every year for my daughter. She eats the entire pie by herself.

Loves me some good ol Pumpkin pie.

I too have a few kitchen goodies that were handed down to me from my Grandmother. She's the one that was most prevalent in my learning to cook.We were very close when I was young, and I'll treasure that for ever.
One thing to add is (if you can get it) lard, IMHO works better for doughs and pastries more that Crisco.

Great pie. Great history. Great antique utensils.
