Time for a joke...

By: Emo Phillips

Once I saw this guy on a bridge about to jump. I said, "Don't do it!" He said, "Nobody loves me." I said, "God loves you. Do you believe in God?"

He said, "Yes." I said, "Are you a Christian or a Jew?" He said, "A Christian." I said, "Me, too! Protestant or Catholic?" He said, "Protestant." I said, "Me, too! What franchise?" He said, "Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Baptist or Southern Baptist?" He said, "Northern Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist or Northern Liberal Baptist?"

He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region, or Northern Conservative Baptist Eastern Region?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region." I said, "Me, too!"

Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1879, or Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912." I said, "Die, heretic!" And I pushed him over.

About ten years ago, I wrote a book about Zen. In that book I wrote "Belief drives people apart; Knowledge brings them together." Seems like it was a pretty decent observation about people.

I'd add that belief can draw people together, however in a more superficial nature. Knowledge in a more authentic way.

@Gawd Yes, what I wrote was a bit flip...although it has truth. I know two sisters who are both Baptists but won't speak to each other. They go to different churches, each with different methods of practicing their beliefs. Neither of them will speak to me, of course, because I am a "heathen." Haha, I consider myself lucky.

@mischl Ouff, that's rough. It's sad that a thing that should be meant to bring people together is so divisive.

Very funny....it is amazing that the funny stuff is really true.....it is just so ridiculous.

I agree. Jokes about religion almost write themselves, lol.

The performance must be seen to be fully appreciated:

Sweet! Thanks for adding this!
