I went to a local fish and chips place and talked to one of the people there. She said that the father of her children was going to be deployed, The children were really concerned as the destination was classified. I think this man is a member of the National Guard. I am confused, do they not at least tell you where you are going to be going, they could then change this. Any one know what is going on?

He's lying to his family. Probably got a TDY to a sweet location where the ladies will be plenty and not so discerning. Classic move. Seen it many times.

Are you serious? It's as old as human existence. Korea was pretty bad for this. I saw many marriages end. I went TDY to a school and married people were hooking up on the regular. It's mind blowing.
@dokala I was saying that to question the reasoning behind it. I know it goes on, but it makes no sense for someone to do it. A guy with a family isn't going to leave his wife and kids to pursue someone who was a quick hop in bed.
I'm sure as a member of the Guard, they knew they could be deployed at any time. Maybe the destination is not confirmed right now.

I don’t know if this is anything but we have had fighters going overhead in the last couple of weeks which doesn’t happen. This is in Australia.
We had the same when I was living in England just before Gulf War 1; low flying exercises over the sea.
Perhaps something is about to kick off

Probably a military person can give you a good answer, but my understanding is that you could be sent where ever your country needs you and it could well be a classified location.

The service member might know where they're going, but might not be allowed to divulge it.
USAF VET. When I was in during the seventys, the orders stated if they were classified or other.
If, other then it was not to be released. Even to family. I had a top secret clearance.
