Wondering if anyone can tell me....What is the function of the "connect" button at the bottom of a private message?

Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.I think the button is indicating your status with the person you private messaged....click FOLLOW on that persons profile then send another msg to her/him .....scroll down to see if the button reads CONNECTED

It's confusing because you can toggle it yourself, but I don't know what it indicates.
I can't understand the system. I tried sending messages only to have them not show up. Faulty wiring.

If it's green, you're connected.. red means no connection...

Yeah I get that, but what does "connected:" mean? I already know that if I'm talking to someone.

I am not sure.. but I am thinking it shows if you are showing as online on this program.. If you turn the button off.. it won't show your online status....

That's a possibility I hadn't considered. Thanks. Or maybe it shows up on that person's page when you're online?
