Wine & Beer...

I live in a large wine-producing region and also have seen pretty explosive growth in the micro/craft beer industry. What are some of your favorite wines and/or beers?

Wines (this is not a complete list, but these are my favs)

• Crankcase – Flagship red blend produced by Berghold Estates winery, Loda, CA
• Footstomp – 100% Zinfandel, also by Berghold
• Viognier – Another Berghold wine
• Earthquake Zinfandel – Michael & David winery, Lodi CA
• 7 Deadly Zins – Also M&D
• Various Ports from Toogood winery, Fairplay, CA
Beer
• Macadamia Nut Porter – 6 Rivers Brewing, McKinleyville, CA
• Black Butte Porter – Deschutes Brewery, Bend, OR
• Hazelnut Brown Nectar – Rogue Ales, Newport, OR
As you can see, I generally prefer Zins, but I’ve been classified as a “tolerant” taster and I’ll drink just about anything. I prefer smoother, fruitier reds. I haven’t listed any, but I also like white dessert wine. Dr. Loosen (a German import) makes a really nice Riesling, tart/sweet and green-apple-y. Fetzer Gewurtztraminer isn’t bad either, and is a great value. (it ain’t 2 buck chuck, but it’s cheap!).
I developed a love of Alt Bier (German dark beer) while on active duty and stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. So I’m so happy to see all of these Porters coming out now. But you can keep the IPAs. LOL!
So what do YOU like?

The only wines I like are Rieslings. I like most beers, but not a big fan of IPAs either. Shiner Bock is one of my favorites, and I'm partial to Ambers.

But mostly I'm a vodka fan.

Ditto on the ambers!

Can we talk about Scotch Whiskey or Rum? I'm a Scottish pirate in my free time.... 😉

Arrrrr! - I'll drink to that!!

You must be a Pastafarian too! =] (Pirate)

Umm, I can't be the only wino here...Beuller?

You Are Not Alone, Good Sir!!!

I'm not a connoisseur, but I do enjoy a wee taste now and then.
I've visited a few microbreweries (Black Raven Brewing Co. | Seattle area) and a number of smaller wineries; with plans to visit many more. I prefer to support the little guy, but have been know to go with the larger well known brands as well.

I like the sweeter white wines, but will try anything.
As for beer, again, I like fruity rather than bitter.

I'm much more of a Spirits Gal, though. I do like my Rum. 😉

@scurry Thanks for playing. LOL! I was beginning to wonder if anyone was even seeing this post. Maybe nobody wants to admit they're winos. =] DON'T BE SHY, PEOPLE!

@IAMGROOT I've never met an alcohol I didn't like, although I've certainly had some disagreements with some. LOL
