Who wouldn't love waking up to that view every day, right? But, hold on, did you all know about the insurance hurdle? Crazy, right? Funny thing, I was eyeing this oceanfront dream home in Temecula recently, all excited about the view. But guess what? When I called up for a homeowner's insurance quote, the first thing they hit me with was the Zip Code question. Turns out, many insurance companies are cautious about water proximity. Apparently, living within half a mile of water is a red flag for many insurance companies nowadays. I get it, water and homes can sometimes have a complicated relationship.

It's been this way for about a decade, as far as I know. When I made that call and they asked for my Zip Code, I could almost feel the hesitation on the other end. Apparently, it's a red flag for many insurance providers.

Oceanfront property! Yippee!
Do you all know that many if not most insurance companies will no longer even give you a homeowner's quote if you live within 1/2 mile of any water? Been this way for about a decade, the first question they ask is your Zip Code when you call. Try it!

Many millions of people will be moving to higher land. I won’t be around.
