If we beefed up and enforce the laws against giving jobs to illegals, Making it more expensive to hire illegals than it would be to hire people who are here legally, out illegal immigrant problem would quickly disappear as they leave to go to where they can find work.

If you did that in Texas it would take you years to get a house built. Certain fruits and vegetables would cost a fortune, and there would be no paved or repaired roads to go anywhere. Texas is not the only state which depends on these workers. After Katrina the Mayor of New Orleans said they would never have gotten the city rebuilt without those illegal aliens.

You just need to pay enough that people who are here legally would be willing to do the work.

Yes, it would be more expensive, but people who don't want illegals shouldn't get to have it both ways. Either you accept them or you have to pay more for things.

The point that this would eventually get around to is that all those who say illegals are a problem, don't want them to leave, because they would no longer have illegals to blame for societal problems and things would get more expensive pretty fast.

My point beign that they don't really want to solve the problems with illegals so much as they just scapegoats to shift the blame to, who are mostly docile and afraid to defend themselves. So, they wont' come up with any "solutions" that will actually work or solve the issue of illegals beign here. My suggestion above would mostly solve the problem... but they want scapegoats to societal problems more than they want to actually stop illegals from coming here.

@snytiger6 You are missing my point. The Texas economy could not take that hit, so they are not going to crack down on businesses and farmers, or they would have a long time ago. Houses, which are way overpriced as it is would cost a lot more. Americans do mind paying more. Why do you think Walmart is the world's largest retailer. Americans want a lot and they want it cheap or free. Having lived and played all over the SW for most of my life, including El Paso, we have never had a real problem with illegal aliens. Why do you think they busted a factory in Mississippi and not Texas or New Mexico. It is about money. Most of the people trump fired up over illegal aliens are in places that are not even impacted by illegal aliens. Do we need legislation to deal with immigration, yes, but just try to get something through the Congress. The Senate passed an immigration bill when Obama was in office and the House would not look at it because the Speaker knew it would not pass. It has not been brought up since.

You won't see it because it would essentially automatically make those undocumented workers victims of human trafficking, which in turn would make them eligible for a T visa.

A nice thought, but IMO there is no significant constituency to support it.

People like to complain about problems which they really dont' want to be solved. Having illegals as scapegoats for societal problems is much more important to those complaining about illegals, than atually preventing them from coming here.
