Favorite whiskey?
Mine are Glenmorangie and Woodford Reserve.
40-year-old Laphroaig. 40-year-old Lagavulin is a close second. Very expensive, but they last a long time because they're the sort of thing you only bring out to share with people you really like (and I don't like many people even half as much as that), so actually good value.
@Jnei My favourite has to b the lagavulin 16 which has been my regular sipping drink for many years... must get myself a taste of the 40
@ShadowAmicus You'll be very lucky to find it - in fact, there probably isn't any of the last release of 40-year-old (which was actually 37 years old) left; it took a lot of emails from the 25 members of the Single Malt Scotch Society of which I'm a member to secure a bottle. There's quite a lot of 30-year-old on the market, however, starting at around £3500 a bottle.
@Jnei have to pass on buying a bottle ... there are no drinks worth that amount for me
@ShadowAmicus Organise a tasting group. We paid £40 each for our bottle and got a couple of glasses each. To be fair, I might not have been willing to pay that much for two glasses of whisky, but the evening of chat (and especially the new fellow whisky-appreciating female friend Poppy I made that night) were worthy forty quid and more.
@Jnei a friend for £40 is a bargain
