Has anyone run into the genre known as Christian fiction? Classically, nothing on the cover blurbs, the title or about the first 50 pages suggests the book's true nature. Then wham, the perfectly interesting romance or drama is suddenly all about converting the reader--sort of a bait and switch. At a large regional library I asked why these could not be designated with a symbol (like a cross) as is done for mysteries, westerns, SF and the like, and was told (in the public reply board) that there was no need. From then on I took the books to the religion section of the library, and basically hid them behind the books meant to be there.

Much of the Bible is fiction. Does anyone really believe Jonah got swallowed by a whale?
